Weekends and public holidays are removed. Every deducted date is listed underneath, so you can check the result line by line.
Take the range you entered, keep the weekdays, then remove any date that is a public holiday under the option you chose. The result matches the monthly reference pages: for example, 01 January 2026 to 31 December 2026 in the United States is 250 business days, and 1 April to 30 June 2026 in the United Kingdom is 62 business days.
Caveats worth knowing: company-specific shutdowns, half-days, regional holidays and shift patterns are not included. The “national public holidays” option uses the days that apply across the whole country, which is the strictest common definition.
